…as he promises to drum up support for the Head of State ahead of August 12 General Elections

Chief Simwatachela of the Tonga Speaking people of Kalomo and Zimba districts has joined the list of many other traditional leaders in Southern Province who have backed President Edgar Chagwa Lungu ahead of next week’s polls.

Speaking when Patriotic Front Member of the Central Committee Kebby Mbewe paid a courtesy call on him in Mapatizya Constituency today, the traditional leader said President Lungu has remained committed to taking development to all corners of the country.

Chief Simwatachela said from the time he became Chief in 2009, there has been no leader who cared about the welfare of Traditional leaders like President Edgar Lungu.

“President Lungu seems be different from all the Heads of State I have interacted with.

He is a humble man, he is doing what he promises. Our retainers are now getting their dues,” Chief Simwatachela said.

The traditional leader added that President Lungu should be assured of His support during and after the election Campaigns.

“We will drum up support for the head of state here in Mapatizya. President Lungu is the only Leader who has committed to work closely with all the Chiefs,” he said.

And MCC Mbewe said President Lungu understands that traditional leaders play a vital role in the development of Chiefdoms.

“The President wants to work with all the chiefs in this country. In areas where there are no Members of Parliament, development can be delivered through traditional leaders,” he said.
