The ZambIan Institute of Governance and Civil Liberties Advocacy Platform (ZIGCLAP) says it is highly impressed by the introduction of the Biometric System by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
Organization Chief Executive Officer Francis Chipili tells Smart Eagles via telephone that the introduction of the Biometric system is timely.
Mr. Chipili explains that this will greatly increase efficiency of the electoral officers in the administration of elections on the 12th August as well as other future elections.
“ZIGCLAP therefore salutes the Electoral Commission of ZambIa for embracing technology in its efforts to serve the country,” he stated.
Mr. Chipili said Zambia as an emerging technological utilization country must always strive to continuously seek new technologies, that promotes efficiency and timely delivery of services to the people of Zambia.
He indicated that this is the more reason why his organization has supported this move by the electoral body saying it will promote efficiency in the administration of the elections.
A Biometric system measures and analyses a voter’s unique physical characteristics to verify their identity and eligibility to vote and uses a voter’s physical characteristics, such as facial features or fingerprints, to identify them.
