….says the violence recorded in Lusaka that led to the killing of two PF members is unacceptable!
Patriotic Front (PF) Member of the Central Committee Musonda Mpankata has welcomed the decision by President Edgar Lungu to allow the defense forces to help the Zambia Police Service to maintain peace ahead of next week’s general elections.
MCC Mpankata said the violence recorded in Lusaka that led to the killing of two PF members is unacceptable and must be stopped.
He said the decision by the Head of State is timely as it will help to ensure law and order before, during and after the polls.
“The Head of State has made the right intervention to involve the Army to ensure that this election is peaceful,” said Mr. Mpankata.
MCC Mpankata, who is also PF Lupososhi Parliamentary candidate, further dismissed sentiments that the involvement of defense forces would intimidate electorates.
The Member of Central Committee said the Army and Security wings will only deal with those perpetrating anarchy.
He has since urged law abiding and peace loving citizens to turn up in numbers to vote in next Thursday’s election without any fear.
“This has nothing to do with intimidating the voters.
As long as you are a law abiding citizen, there is nothing to fear. Go out on 12th August and vote” He said
And Mr. Mpankata has described as barbaric the killing of two PF members in Lusaka’s Kanyama area as a result of political clashes.
