…says Western Province had been a sleeping giant because it has been ruled by the people who frustrated government efforts to develop it.
REPUBLICAN Vice President Inonge Mutukwa Wina has urged people in Western province to invest in new farming techniques that are sustainable.
Her Honour the Vice-president said the people should learn new farming techniques called smart agriculture in order to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Mrs Wina said the province has huge potential in rice and cassava production as well as the livestock sector but was lacking in good leadership skills for it to thrive economically.
Speaking when she met with Kaoma District Commissioner Vincent Mutti at Mangango Primary School today, Her Honour the Vice President said Western province needed a strong and visionary leadership such as the one provided by President EDGAR LUNGU and the PF if it was to benefit from its natural resources.
Mrs WINA said the region was a sleeping giant in the agriculture sector and the PF government had put in place policies that wilould help unlock the province’s economic fortunes.
And speaking earlier, Kaoma District Commissioner Vincent Mutti said people in the area had embraced government policies that are aimed at uplifting their lives.
Mr has however complained that some civil servants have not yet started benefiting from the debt swap agreement reached by government, trade unions and financial lending institutions.
Her Honour the Vice President later met with traditional leaders, PF party officials and civil servants as part of her three day working visit to Western province.
